NO CONFIDENCE VOTE OF ZUMA TO BE CONSIDERED

Speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete says she will consider the urgent request of a no confidence debate against President Jacob Zuma. Speaking at a briefing from OR Tambo International Airport, Mbete says she will begin a consultation process to attend to the request.

The request was submitted by the Democratic Alliance (DA) following a cabinet reshuffle by the President, which saw the dismissal of Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas.

"Given the seriousness inherent in the motions of no confidence and their implications on the nation, I have therefore decided to cut my working trip to
Bangladesh to ensure that these requests are given the appropriate consideration in terms of the constitution. I will therefore, as of today, begin a process of consultation contemplated in the rules in the consideration of the requests submitted," says Mbete.
