FEEDING SCHEME MISMANAGEMENT FORCES PROTESTS

PUPILS, teachers and parents from six schools took to the streets of Port Shepstone last Friday.
They demanded the department bring back the feeding scheme in their schools. The feeding scheme was stopped last October, they claimed. They added that those who prepared meals had also not been paid.
The affected schools are Mayiyane High, Mehlomnyama Primary, Imbalencane Primary, St Faith’s Primary, Ibumbeni Primary and Indlelenhle High.
It has been established that the companies which tendered to supply meals at schools are iNcantuncantu (Pty) Ltd and Dilizindlala Trading Enterprise. It is said the department terminated their contracts due to their failure to supply the expected meals.
