Paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found that the light motor vehicle had veered off the road on impact.
“The twisted frame of the car had come to rest about fifty metres from the roadway with its front in the river, the rest of the vehicle was under dense bush,” said Mr Botha.
The driver of the truck absconded from the scene and his passenger escaped from the crash uninjured.
Police are investigating.
